Twitter

Twitter is a site owned and operated by Twitter Inc. and offers a social networking and microblogging service. It enables users to send and read messages, which are called tweets.

Tweets are text-based posted of up to 140 characters displayed on the profile page. Tweets are publicly visible by default. However, senders can private their accounts, thus it restricts the message delivery to just their followers. Users can subscribe to others’ tweets, also known as following, and subscribers are known as followers.

Users are able to receive tweets through the site, compatible external applications, for example, smartphones like iPhones, Blackberries and android phones. Certain countries also allow Short Message (SMS) Services that are only available in certain countries.
